AutoCAD Drafter Designer – Fire Alarm, Access Control, Electrical, and

If you have a passion for designing life-safety systems, experience drafting building designs in AutoCAD, and a desire to grow, you may be interested in this opportunity through Linx Integrated/Boone Electric for a Drafter Designer. This role works closely with our commercial and low voltage teams, estimators, and key customers to ensure the best possible commercial electrical, fire alarm, access control, and CCTV system design for new construction and TI projects.

Duties:

Create system and wiring layouts in AutoCAD with the input of the Department Manager, Project Managers, as well as implementing all applicable codes

Communicate with architects and engineers to procure CAD files and related project files

Working knowledge of relevant codes, including but not limited to IBC, IFC, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, etc

Communicate with AHJ to verify design and submittal requirements

Create fire alarm submittals as required Includes battery calcs, equipment specs, permit applications, etc.

Determine and adhere to project deadlines

Deliver submittals to AHJ (in person and/or electronically)

Make revisions and resubmit drawings as necessary

Track submittal status and retrieve fire alarm submittals / permits, once issued

As-built Drawings,

Scan and file red-line drawings provided by Project Manager

Revise original drawings to reflect red-lines

Maintain up to date and organized electronic filing system

Responsible for plotter maintenance and related supplies

Responsible for procuring and maintaining a library of relevant code books (paper and electronic), as required

Seek out and implement current Procore/AutoCAD software, licensing and training

Flexibility to learn and implement line voltage design

Create and implement a training guide to assist with CAD Designer trainees

Other duties as assigned by Manager

Desired Experience & Skills:

Previous AutoCAD drafting and design experience, at least two years required

Experience with ProCore project and drawing management tools

Experience with Excel to complete battery calcs

Ability to read blueprints and spec sheets

Experience with editing in Adobe Acrobat or Blue Beam

Experience with assembling submittal documents and operation and maintenance manuals

Strong communication skills – with estimator and the field team

Detail-orientated mindset and high level of accuracy

Strong organizational skills to manage files and tasks

High level of initiative and ability to take ownership of design to completion

Reliable attendance and desire to grow in electrical, fire alarm, CCTV, and card access knowledge

High school diploma or equivalent required, advanced drafting training preferred
