Volunteers for Youth is a long-standing Orange County, NC nonprofit whose mission is to help children and teens positively connect to the community through mentoring, community service, and teen court programs. We are looking for a bilingual (Spanish and English), self-motivated, energetic team player who values and respects youth from a variety of backgrounds.
The youth service coordinator oversees the community service work of youth referred from teen court and juvenile court, recruits and supervises work site coordinators, plans and facilitates community service projects with youth, and recruits, screens, and trains volunteers to serve as mentors. Although experience working with youth is key to the position, much of the work is centered on administrative and clerical tasks.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in a human service-related field or a high school diploma with at least one year of human service experience
Bilingual: English-Spanish
Experience working with adolescents and teens
Ability to work independently while exhibiting sound judgment and professionalism
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Comfortable interacting with a diverse array of people
Familiarity with Orange & Chatham County community
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional weekend and evening hours
Experience in social media management
