Title: Pay Attendant

Division/Department: Customer Service

Reports to: Customer Service Manager

Location: 8001 Table Rock Rd., RTR Customer Service Pay Building

Employee status: Non-union/non-exempt/at will

Work schedule: Formal workweek is from Sunday through Saturday. Scheduled work is 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Schedule will vary and employees will be scheduled to work Saturdays. Workday includes a 30 minute, unpaid, meal period and two paid 15 minute breaks.

Wages: TBD

Vacation: Per company vacation policy.

Drug and alcohol testing: Subject to pre-employment testing and random selection drug and alcohol testing.

Probationary period: 90 days.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITYResponsible for the efficient and effective estimation of load quantities, collection of appropriate fees for waste disposal, support for recycle yard operation, and the maintenance of positive customer relations at the Transfer Station.Staffs Customer Service Center Pay Window

Monitors and controls access and egress to transfer station and recycle depot

Monitors and controls contents of disposable waste and recycled materials

Establishes load size and calculates fees for disposable waste

Addresses disputes with customers when required

Provides information to the public customers regarding transfer station and recycling services, practices, and charges

Maintains organization and appearance of customer service center and surrounding areas.

Balances daily revenue reports and transmits revenue and reports to accounting staff.

Completes day end security routine, e.g., locks doors, secures customer service center, sets alarms, etc.

Must provide each customer with receipts

Participate in and support training and initiatives to improve service quality, safety, customer and employee relations, and operational efficiency and effectiveness.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Reading, writing and verbal skills required to respond to written and oral instructions and to provide written documentation and information exchange.

Work at a fast pace, responding to multiple tasks at the same time.

Skills to communicate effectively with a predominantly English speaking public and address customer frustrations and conflicts effectively.

Understanding and functional use of a computerized cashiering and inventory system.

Skills of basic mathematics to add, subtract, multiply, divide, whole numbers, fractions, percentages, and dollars, calculate volumes, make change, and balance revenue statements.

Knowledge of criteria for acceptable recyclable materials.

Knowledge of policies, practices and procedures for preparation of recycled materials.

Knowledge of alternative disposal/recycling options for materials not meeting recycling collection criteria.

Knowledge, skill and use of hazardous material identification and handling practices.

Knowledge, skill and use of protection practices for blood borne pathogens.

Knowledge, skill and use of fire and other emergency practices.

Punctual and reliable in work attendance.

Ability to work independent of direct supervision and to respond with flexibility to potentially changing demands.

Ability to lift up to 65 pounds by hand.

Ability to operate mechanized equipment to lift heavier objects.

Capacity to remain standing for extended periods of time.

Mobility to walk to vehicles and job sites as well as to climb onto and into vehicles for purposes of load inspection and charge estimation.

Pass randomly timed drug and alcohol tests in accord with company standards.
